I’m a Creative Director who has spent the better part of 16 years figuring
out how to make ideas make sense.
I started as a designer, so I’ve always cared about the making as much as the thinking. Over time, that expanded from identity, print and digital into campaigns, social, content, product, experiential and brand platforms. I’ve led work for brands including Mountain Dew, American Express, PepsiCo, Polaris, BEVEL, Eastside Golf and Impossible Foods, moving between sports, entertainment, fashion, technology and culture depending on what the problem called for.
The throughline has never really been a medium. It’s translation.
Taking something complicated and finding the simple idea inside of it. Understanding what a brand is trying to accomplish, what people actually care about, and finding the place where those two things can meet without forcing it. Sometimes that becomes a campaign. Sometimes it’s an experience, a piece of content, a new visual language, a partnership or an entirely new platform.
Today, I’m Managing Partner and Head of Creative at Unsurfaced™, the independent creative company I co-founded to work exactly that way. Small teams, senior thinking and whatever combination of strategy, creative and execution the problem actually requires. Through Unsurfaced, I’ve had the opportunity to build work from the ground up, lead teams across disciplines and create opportunities for other creatives to do some of their best work too.
I’m still a designer at heart. Still obsessed with a good idea. Still probably asking too many questions until the thing finally clicks.
Culture moves fast. I make it make sense.!
